Join Me In Heroes Of The Storm

I’ll admit it, I’m a geek. I’ve gotten hooked on this game by Blizzard Entertainment called Heroes of the Storm. Technically the game is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), but Blizzard prefers to calls it a hero brawler.

Basically, there are two teams of five players (heroes). The object is to destroy the other team’s base, or core. There are many other variables involved, such as objectives and mercenaries.

The main fun, in my opinion, comes in the variety of heroes that you can play and learning their unique play styles. When you play matches you earn gold, which you can use to unlock more heroes.
Heroes Of The Storm
If you’re looking for a new game to play, then I suggest checking it out. It’s free to play, so there’s no reason not to try it.

There is a Recruit-A-Friend promotion going on. Basically, if I get people to check it out, I can get some cool stuff, and so can they.
If you are interested, then please sign up using my unique link. Right off the bat, you’ll unlock the hero, Jim Raynor. He’s a renegade commander from StarCraft, and a great hero to start out with. Once you reach level 10 (which is pretty easy to do with the stimpack they give you), then you’ll unlock Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, the Banshee Queen from WarCraft.

Plus, you’ll have the added bonus of being able to geek out with me in the game. So that will be a lot of fun.

So yeah, download Heroes of the Storm (it’s free) using this link: and I’ll see you in the game. Be sure to add my BattleTag: Arborcorien#1163.

Not into gaming? I understand. If books are more your thing, then be sure to check out my début as a published author. You can order my anthology, Voices from the Dark, from Amazon right here. That link will send you to the product page for the paperback version.

Would you rather have the eBook version? You can preorder it from iTunes here or from Barnes & Noble here.

  1. I despair…

A little bird told me (ok, it was no bird, it was this web page) that you’re publishing a book! Congrats!

Seeing as how I am in awe of your 1337 writing skills I wanted to get a copy. But the tree-based copy is offered on Amazon, and I’ve been boycotting Amazon for over a year now, in the hope that the loss of revenue caused by my doing so will persuade them to a) start treating their employees with more dignity and b) pay their effing taxes like we all have to do, so why can they get away with not doing so mumble, grumble… and besides, it’s a tree copy. I’m a tree-hugger: go figure.

But then I see that I can get the ebook version from Barnes & Noble. No trees involved! (Well, fewer of them, unless they’re burnt to provide electricity, but that’s a horse of a totally different kettle of fish). So I follow the link to the Barnes & Noble website. I don’t have an account there. So I set one up (“it’s just a few clicks, right?”). And I try to place an order…

… and I get the message:
“International addresses are not allowed when there are digital item(s) in your cart.”

You* have GOT to be kidding me.

    * No, not you, personally. I’m referring to the technolunacy that’s infesting us with such parasitical phlyarologisms.

TL;DR I tryd to by yore book but failed

    • Quite a predicament. The other option is iTunes. It might be available in other places in the future, but I’m not sure where. It’s all in the hands of the publisher now. I appreciate the sentiment though!

        I don’t use iTunes either.

You probably won’t be interested in the reason for this, but I’m feeling a little perverse today, so I’ll inflict it upon you.* My dear old Mum bought an iPod once. Some years later she gave it to me (having never used it, as is her wont: sitting in front of the idiot box all day long tends to have this unfortunate effect upon her: she buys a whole lot of stuff she doesn’t need and never uses. I think Our Great Leaders applaud such behaviour as it Serves The Economy).

Needless to say, by the time this gadget fell into my grubby mitts not only were the rechargeable batteries included totally dead, they were also unrechargeable to boot. Oh, and when I installed the software that came with this dead widget, the software didn’t do what the box promised it would; and the ‘support’ site I was sent to ‘in the event of difficulty’ told me that the software, along with the widget itself, was no longer supported.

… I don’t suppose you have any idea where I can go to sign up for Curmudgeons Anonymous?

        * I do recognise that there’s no way to force you to read it. I may be a tad mad, but I’m not totally insane. Not yet, at any rate. Maybe.

PS I’ve noted a certain identity crisis in you of late. I sympathise. Welcome to the Internet.

      • Dammit! And there I was hoping you’d say something like: “It’s ok, my book is now available in your local high street’s bookshop — or, if not, you can request it from there.” I seem to remember being able to do such things, once upon a time. Although maybe I dreamt that.

      • P.S. Writing this while on hold to PayPal ‘support’ (sic), who have my munny but whose systems are refusing to allow me to do what I want with it. I’m sure I heard some rumour about a ‘digital revolution’ recently, something that would make life so much easier for everyone — although maybe I dreamt that, too…

      • P.P.S. (Yes, still on hold to PayPal)… is this HOTS any good? I’ve just celebrated my main character’s 11th birthday in Everquest2, but (although I love Norrath to bits, and really can’t recommend it highly enough as a place to visit) variety is, after all, the spice of life 🙂

Oh, good, PayPal support finally answered. D’you think they heard me talking about them… ?

      • Yeah HotS is great. I’ve been playing it for almost a year now. They release new characters to play on a regular basis. It’s free to check out if you’re interested. Use the link I posted to sign up. Try it out and let me know.
