My Words

Day 2 of National Poetry Writing Month.

Today’s poem brings you more angst in defense of my writing. It is my outlet. It is how I express myself.

So enjoy… my words.

My Words

NaPoWriMo
You do not own
My words.
They are not for you.
I write what I write
When my inner light
Shines through.
It’s a pity you never knew
The real me.
I’ve poured myself out,
In pages,
In text,
In fonts.
My words
Could show you
My being.
My life bleeds out
Through ink on paper.
My pen
Is my microphone.
You never listened,
Never read,
Never bothered.
Now you want to know
My words.
How dare you
Act like you care.
Feign interest
Like you’re still here.
You want to
See inside my soul.
But that door closed.
Juxtaposed.
Why bother now?
I bled
My words.
You never read
My words.
But now
My words
Upset you,
Offend you.
Did you expect them
To mend you?
I will not apologize for
My words
If you dislike
What leaks from my tank,
Take a long walk
Off a short plank.
You are not worth
My words.
