If you want to be a professional fighter, then you should watch professional fights.
If you want to be a writer, then you should read what others have written.
Simple as that.
If you want to write fantasy, then read some Tolkien.
If you want to write horror, then read some Stephen King.
If you want to write children’s books, then read some Dr. Seuss.
Reading the work of other novelists, especially those in the same genre, not only allows you to learn from professionals who have already mastered their crafts, but it also opens the doors to allow inspiration to come in.
Simple, straight-forward advice. And it is half of what I learned in the VIP lounge.
