Reading Aloud

When editing something that you wrote, get into the practice of reading it aloud. Hearing the words spoken can help identify issues that could otherwise be overlooked.

By doing this, it will become easier to:

• Pinpoint potential grammar and spelling errors.
• Know when to use or not use commas and other punctuation.
• Make sure sentences read well and flow smoothly.
• Check the pacing of each scene.
• Ensure the dialogue sounds realistic.
• Choose the words that sound the best.
